A threaded rod, also known as a stud, is a relatively long rod that is threaded on both ends; the thread may extend along the complete length of the rod.
They are designed to be used in tension.
Threaded rod in bar stock form is often called all-thread.
As for types of metal used in the manufacturing of threaded rod, the most common include low carbon steel, B7 and stainless steel.
However, other metals used include: Grade 5 and Grade 8, stainless steel 303, 304 and 316, A449, Brass, aluminum, copper and silicon bronze.
Application
Stainless steel fully threaded rods and studs are fasteners that provide high strength when mounting and securing components in assemblies or structures.
They have higher corrosion resistance than steel threaded rods and studs and are ideal for use in wet environments where male threads are needed for the full fastener length

What is the strongest threaded rod?
Threaded rods featuring a white color code are the strongest. The second-strongest color code is red, which is made of A4 stainless steel. The third-strongest color code for threaded fasteners is green, which is made of A2 stainless steel. Coming in fourth and five is yellow and unmarked, respectively.
Can you cut threaded rod?
When you're shortening a bolt or threaded rod with a hacksaw, you always mangle the threads at the sawn end, making it tough to get a nut threaded onto it. ... Thread two nuts onto the bolt at the cutoff spot, tighten them against each other, then saw against the shoulder to create a clean right-angled cut.
